The National Highway Institute (NHI) is hosting two Relocation Program web-based training courses on Relocation Under the Uniform Act.
These courses aim to build proficiency in understanding and implementing the Uniform Relocation Assistance & Real Property Acquisition Policies Act (Uniform Act) Relocation Program and 49 CFR 24 requirements. The courses include interesting case studies that prompt diligent application of the law and enable participants to advance their knowledge, skills, and abilities to hone relocation expertise for in-practice application.
Fall Series: begins October 2, 2023, and concludes October 20, 2023
Winter Series: begins December 5, 2023, and concludes December 12, 2023
These course are designed for relocation program personnel providing relocation assistance to residential occupants that are being displaced by a federal-aid project. Representatives from federal Uniform Act agencies, state DOTs, LPAs, FHWA personnel, and other interested persons are also encouraged to attend.

Federally-funded projects which are designed to benefit the public often need to acquire private property in order to be developed, which sometimes results in the displacement of individuals from their homes, businesses, or farms.
The Relocation Assistance & Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970 (Uniform Act) was established to ensure property owners and tenants are treated fairly, equitably, and receive assistance.
Established in 1970 as FHWA's training and education arm, NHI works to improve the safety and conditions of the nation's roads, highways, and bridges by building the skills of highway professionals and enhancing job performance in the transportation industry.
NHI's course catalog include hundreds of trainings in more than 18 transportation industry-related program areas.
"There can be no doubt that the transportation sector is the most critical sector of our economy."
