In this webinar, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) California Division are sharing recent changes to Buy America requirements resulting from the Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act (IIJA) and Build America, Buy America (BABA) Act.
BABA basically requires that Buy America preferences on construction materials—like non-ferrous metals, plastic/polymer-based products, glass, lumber, and drywall—be permanently incorporated into all federal aid projects authorized as of November 10, 2022.
Expert presenters in this webinar include:
Lizmarie Gavillan, Construction Program Manager
FHWA California Division
Girmay Beyene, Construction Oversight Program Manager
Caltrans Division of Local Assistance
Ken Darby, Office of Contract Administration

The Build America Buy America (BABA) Act requires that all of the iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials used in infrastructure projects be produced in the United States.
BABA builds upon previous Made in America policies to help bolster America's industrial base, protect our national security, and support high-paying jobs.
"There can be no doubt that the transportation sector is the most critical sector of our economy."
