EDC-7 Fireside Chat on Funding Strategies

Posted: 11/14/2023

WEBINAR: November 30, 2023, 9:30AM - 11:30AM PT [CLOSED]

FHWA’s EDC-7 Strategic Workforce Development (SWD) team is hosting a virtual fireside chat that will cover proven funding strategies from workforce development programs and how their impactful partnerships have resulted in access to invaluable resources.

Learn how the workforce development program at Missouri DOT (MoDOT) partners with local organizations as a way of gaining access to funding opportunities, training, and placement capabilities. Representatives from Michigan DOT (MDOT) will also share how they successfully used 504e funding and lean-on partnerships to benefit their Transportation Diversity & Recruitment Program.

Use this opportunity to ask questions and fuel the conversation with SWD program leaders who are experienced in building workforce development programs. FHWA encourages you to submit your questions ahead of the fireside chat.

Every Day Counts

Now in its 7th round, FHWA's EDC state-based initiative identifies and deploys proven innovations that will make our transportation systems more adaptable, sustainable, and safer for all.

FHWA works with state DOTs, local governments, tribes, private industry, and other stakeholders to identify new innovations to champion every two years that merit accelerated deployment.

504e Funding

Section 504(e) of title 23 authorizes state DOTs to use certain federal-aid highway program funds for surface transportation workforce development, training, and education activities.

Program funds available for these activities are the National Highway Performance Program (NHPP), Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG), Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), and Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality (CMAQ) Program.
