Key highlights on regulations, policies, and program funding for the transportation professional
WEBINAR: December 5, 2023, 11:00AM - 1:00PM PT
USDOT is hosting a virtual meeting of the National Coalition on Truck Parking to discuss the importance of allocating sufficient accessible and safe truck parking along the nation’s freight system, as well as relevant developments across the Department as a result of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and other policies.
Leaders from Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Maritime Administration (MARAD), and select state agencies will discuss the status of truck parking needs, research, planning, and project development.
Presentations and discussion will center around the implementation of new
truck parking requirements and projects funded as part of BIL
Through this webinar, the National Coalition on Truck Parking aims to:
Truck parking capacity is a nationwide problem as continued growth in truck traffic is outpacing the supply of public and private parking facilities needed for driver rest, decreasing safety for truck drivers and other vehicles on the road.
Safety is FHWA's top priority and helping to ensure that commercial drivers have a safe place to rest is part of that goal.
The role of the Coalition on Truck Parking is to share best practices and create products to disseminate information on truck parking issues.
"There can be no doubt that the transportation sector is the most critical sector of our economy."
