Key highlights on regulations, policies, and program funding for the transportation professional
The National Highway Institute (NHI) is opening registration for its Practical Applications in Federal-Aid Highway Program Appraisals online training (NHI-141054), an essential opportunity for transportation professionals interested in incorporating Uniform Act and 49 CFR Part 24 appraisal requirements into right-of-way appraisals.
Certified by the International Distance Education Certification Center (IDECC), this 7.5 hour course builds upon the foundation provided in NHI's earlier FHWA Program Appraisals web-based training (NHI-141053), the prior completion of which is highly recommended.
The course target audience includes representatives from Federal Uniform Act Agencies, state DOTs, LPAs, consultant/fee appraisers, and FHWA staff involved with the appraisal process that have attended a basic practices and principles of real estate appraisal course.

Federally-funded projects that benefit the public often need to acquire private property for development, which can result in displacement of individuals from their homes, businesses, or farms.
The Relocation Assistance & Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970 (Uniform Act) was established to ensure property owners and tenants are treated fairly and receive relocation assistance.
Established in 1970 as FHWA's training and education arm, NHI improves the safety and conditions of the nation's roads, highways, and bridges by building the skills of highway professionals and enhancing job performance in the transportation industry.
NHI's course catalog offers hundreds of trainings in more than 18 transportation industry-related program areas.
"There can be no doubt that the transportation sector is the most critical sector of our economy."
