Key highlights on regulations, policies, and program funding for the transportation professional
The California Transportation Commission (CTC) recently approved nearly $2.5B in funding for over 150 new projects that seek to improve safety on the state highway system and strengthen infrastructure resiliency.
Nearly $547M of that is from the federal Infrastructure Investment && Jobs Act (IIJA) and $736M from California’s Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), also known as the Road Repair & Accountability Act of 2017. The remaining $1.1B comes from the State Highway Account, the state’s general fund, plus other state and federal transportation funding programs.
Funded Projects Include:
“Our transportation team is continuing to prioritize benefits for all Californians with bold infrastructure investments that will connect communities and boost our economy,” said Toks Omishakin, secretary of the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA). “These investments will improve safety, support economic growth and strengthen the transportation networks Californians rely on every day.”
The 13-member California Transportation Commission (CTC) is responsible for programming and allocating funds for the construction of highway, passenger rail, transit and active transportation improvements throughout California.
CTC advises and assists CalSTA and the state legislature in formulating and evaluating policies and plans for California’s transportation programs.
"There can be no doubt that the transportation sector is the most critical sector of our economy."
