Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector

APWA's Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector (CPII) credentialing program promotes quality infrastructure throughout the community by advancing the knowledge and practice of construction inspection to benefit the communities and agencies.

The CPII certification program is for individuals who inspect the construction of public infrastructure and facilities as well as other types of construction work and materials to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.

Certification covers key concepts such as materials testing, planning, management, compliance, and documentation; all skills essential to consistently delivering successful infrastructure projects.

Who Can Participate?

Participants need to have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least five years of infrastructure inspection field experience. Relevant work experience is that performed in the construction of public infrastructure, facilities, or other types of construction work and materials to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.

Obtaining Your Certificate

Participants must pass a written exam consisting of 150 multiple-choice questions based on the CPII Content Outline. Topics include testing, measurement, and inspection, project planning and management, & project compliance and documentation.

Upon completion of the exam, participants will receive a certificate as well as a digital badge highlighting their accomplishment.
