Key highlights on regulations, policies, and program funding for the transportation professional
FHWA’s Every Day Counts (EDC) program is rolling out six powerful initiatives designed to help transportation agencies deliver projects faster, manage infrastructure smarter, and build safer, more efficient transportation.
This announcement is just the beginning. In Fall 2026, transportation leaders from across the country will come together for dynamic peer exchanges to dive into each innovation and discover what’s possible to help bring those innovations to life. From idea to impact, EDC-8 is pushing the Nation forward.

Safer, Efficient Transportation
Now in its 8th round, FHWA's EDC state-based initiative identifies and deploys proven innovations that will make our transportation systems more adaptable, sustainable, and safer for all.
FHWA works with state DOTs, local governments, tribes, private industry, and other stakeholders to identify new innovations to champion every two years that merit accelerated deployment.
"There can be no doubt that the transportation sector is the most critical sector of our economy."
