Key highlights on regulations, policies, and program funding for the transportation professional
USDOT and FHWA have released the Notice of Funding Opportunity for the Roadside Pollinator Program (RPP), allocating a total of $3.8M for activities that benefit pollinators on roadsides and highway rights-of-way.
The Roadside Pollinator Program was established under Section 11528 of the Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act (IIJA) to help promote the creation and protection of pollinator habitats along the nation’s roads and highways.
Funds will be awarded to all satisfactory applications from state DOTs, Indian tribes, or Federal Land Management Agencies (FLMAs) that seek to carry out activities that benefit pollinators on roadsides and highway rights-of-way eligible for federal aid.
The amount of grant funding an eligible entity receives is based on the number of pollinator-friendly practices the eligible entity has implemented or plans to implement and cannot exceed $150,000. The Federal share of the cost for activities to be carried out with grant funding is 100%.
