Key highlights on regulations, policies, and program funding for the transportation professional
The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) has published the results of its 2024 Asphalt Pavement Industry Survey on Recycled Materials & Warm-Mix Asphalt Usage.
These results reflect the 2024 construction season and how asphalt mixture producers have a strong record of employing sustainable practices and continue to increase their use of recycled materials and warm-mix asphalt (WMA). The use of recycled materials, particularly reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) and reclaimed asphalt shingles (RAS), conserves raw materials and reduces overall asphalt mixture costs. WMA technologies can also improve compaction at reduced temperatures—ensuring pavement performance and long life, conserve energy during production operations, and improve conditions for workers.
The objective of this survey, first conducted for the 2009 and 2010 construction seasons, was to quantify the use of recycled materials, primarily RAP and RAS, as well as the use of WMA technologies by the asphalt pavement industry.
Key Findings:
The National Asphalt Pavement Association represents the interests of asphalt mixture producers, contractors, suppliers, and consultants on the national level with Congress, government agencies, and national trade and business organizations.
NAPA supports research and technical education to continuously improve the quality of asphalt pavements and paving techniques.
"There can be no doubt that the transportation sector is the most critical sector of our economy."
