Key highlights on regulations, policies, and program funding for the transportation professional
WEBINAR: April 8, 2026, 11:00AM - 12:00PM PT
The National Association of County Engineers (NACE) hosts the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) webinar on the Manufactured Products Final Rule for the Build America, Buy America (BABA) Act.
The webinar reviews the phased domestic materials requirements, identifying which apply to FHWA-funded programs and projects, to help professionals ensure compliance and plan their projects effectively.
On January 14, 2025, the FHWA terminated its 1983 Manufactured Products General Waiver (90 FR 2932), which excluded manufactured products from coverage under FHWA’s Buy America requirements, after determining the waiver was no longer appropriate. The Manufactured Products Final Rule also establishes standards for Buy America requirements on Federal-aid projects and a phased schedule for implementing those standards.
Key Implementation Dates:
The Build America, Buy America (BABA) Act requires that all of the iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials used in federally funded infrastructure projects be produced in the United States.
BABA builds upon previous Made in America policies to help bolster America's industrial base, protect our national security, and support high-paying jobs.
"There can be no doubt that the transportation sector is the most critical sector of our economy."
