Key highlights on regulations, policies, and program funding for the transportation professional
UC Berkeley's Institute of Transportation Studies (ITS) and the City & County Pavement Improvement Center (CCPIC) are introducing a new self-paced 9-hour course on Unpaved Road Engineering, Construction & Management.
This course aims to introduce performance-related thinking to unpaved road management so that practitioners can predict likely performance of their roads using very simple procedures. These design procedures allow practitioners to evaluate various unpaved road design, maintenance, and management options, including material blending and chemical treatments, and the implications of implementing them, and then to choose options that suit their particular needs and resources. The performance-based approach allows practitioners to predict likely performance on which they can base their decisions.

Instructor:
David Jones, PhD, Associate Director, UCPRC, UC Davis
This course is designed for practitioners who manage unpaved road networks and wish to have a better understanding of the fundamentals so that they can make informed decisions about design, construction, maintenance, and management.
Established in 2018 by the UC Pavement Research Center, the City & County Pavement Improvement Center (CCPIC) helps California cities and counties optimize investments in local roads by providing cutting-edge, cost-effective, and sustainable pavement practices, tools, and resources.
CCPIC offers training, guidance & tool development, pavement engineering & management certification, online resource center, and research & development.
"There can be no doubt that the transportation sector is the most critical sector of our economy."
