Safe Flagger Operations & Required PPE

Posted: 2/27/2026

TRAINING: March 5, 2026, 5:30AM - 9:00AM PT

Ohio LTAP presents an essential training on Safe Flagger Operations & Required PPE, reviewing the basic elements of roadway work zones for two-lane temporary traffic control, with an emphasis on rural and urban applications for local roadway systems.

The session addresses the use of advance warning signs and traffic control devices for flagging procedures, providing practical guidance for establishing safe, compliant work zones. Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working around vehicular traffic will also be reviewed, ensuring workers understand how to protect themselves in high-risk roadway environments.

The training references Part 6 of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the Ohio Supplement, grounding instruction in nationally recognized standards and state-specific requirements.

This workshop is valuable for roadway maintenance workers, supervisors, engineers, and others responsible for temporary work zones on local roadways. Understanding proper flagging operations and PPE requirements is essential for protecting both workers and the traveling public during construction and maintenance activities.
