Key highlights on regulations, policies, and program funding for the transportation professional
WEBINAR: February 24, 2026, 10:00AM - 11:00AM PT [CLOSED]
The Active Transportation Resource Center (ATRC) at UC Davis presents a practical webinar on sustainability strategies for Active Transportation Program (ATP) non-infrastructure activities.
This session focuses on how organizations can maintain critical active transportation programs beyond their initial grant funding periods.
ATP Guidelines (Section I: Sustainability) require grantees to demonstrate plans for sustaining non-infrastructure activities after grant funding ends. However, many organizations struggle to identify viable funding sources and strategies for long-term program continuation. This webinar addresses these challenges by showcasing two successful ATP projects that have sustained active transportation activities well beyond their original funding periods.
Ecology Action, a non-profit environmental organization serving California's Central Coast, will share how they built a diverse funding tapestry to support equitable active transportation initiatives. Their mission centers on advancing equitable community climate solutions, with active transportation playing a key role. Through strategic planning and relationship-building, they've secured multiple funding sources to complement their ATP awards, creating a sustainable financial foundation for ongoing programs.
The Active Transportation Resource Center provides technical assistance, training, and resources to support the development and implementation of active transportation projects, particularly those funded by the Caltrans Active Transportation Program (ATP).
ATRC helps ATP applicants, recipients, and others to increase safe walking and bicycling for all Californians and work towards our state’s mobility, safety, equity, environmental and health goals.
The California Active Transportation Program (ATP) is a state-funded initiative administered by Caltrans to encourage an increased use of walking and biking.
Since inception, ATP has funded over 800 active transportation projects across the state to benefit both urban and rural areas, with over 400 Safe Routes to Schools programs promoting a healthy and active student lifestyle.
"There can be no doubt that the transportation sector is the most critical sector of our economy."
