Quick-Build Traffic Safety Improvements

Posted: 2/16/2026

TRAINING: March 17, 2026, 9:00AM - 10:00AM PT

Join our latest DLA partner, the Safety Navigator for California Communities (SNCC), for a practical look at Quick-Build Traffic Safety Improvements. Learn from expert city, state, and private-sector panelists who have implemented these strategies on real streets.

Quick-build traffic safety improvements are low-cost, rapidly deployed street design changes that improve safety in the near term while allowing agencies to test, adjust, and refine designs before committing to permanent construction. These interventions—including paint, flexible posts, curb extensions, high-visibility crosswalks, and temporary materials—enable agencies to address safety concerns quickly and adapt based on real-world performance data.

Panelists will share practical insights on when and why to use quick-build approaches, how to move from concept to installation quickly, and lessons learned from real-world implementation. The discussion will also cover strategies for community engagement and stakeholder buy-in—critical factors for project success. These firsthand experiences provide valuable guidance for agencies looking to accelerate their traffic safety programs.

This session is designed for public agency staff, planners, engineers, consultants, and partners seeking to deliver meaningful traffic safety improvements cost-effectively.
