2026 SCAG Scholarship Program

The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) is now accepting applications for the 2026 SCAG Scholarship Program.

Presented in partnership with the California Transportation Foundation, this program awards nine $4,000 scholarships to high school or community college students in the SCAG region.

Students in any field of study are invited to apply, with preference for applications demonstrating a commitment to community, regional, or urban planning, civil engineering, political science, public administration, sustainable development, or related fields.

Program Requirements:

  • Resident within the SCAG region and eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Graduating high school senior or two-year community college student
  • High school grads must immediately enroll in higher education
  • Candidates must have a 3.0 grade point average or higher

Application Materials:

  • 500-word personal statement describing your interest in community, regional, or urban planning, civil engineering, political science, public administration, sustainable development, or other related fields and career goals

  • Two letters of recommendation from individuals not related to you and who can attest to your leadership ability and interest in public service

  • Transcript(s) from the school in which you are currently enrolled (community college students must provide both high school and community college transcripts)

  • Completed online application


All materials must be submitted by 5pm Friday, March 20th

What is SCAG?

The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) is an association of local governments and agencies that convene to address regional issues.

SCAG develops long-range regional transportation plans that include sustainable communities strategy and growth forecasts, regional transportation improvement programs, housing needs allocations, and a portion of the South Coast Air Quality Management Plan.
