Key highlights on regulations, policies, and program funding for the transportation professional
The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and the Center for Tribal Transportation (CTT) are hosting four Road Inventory Field Data System (RIFDS) training sessions at the National Indian Programs Training Center in Albuquerque, NM.
RIFDS is a federal database used by BIA and FHWA to document roads serving tribal populations. For land-based tribes, these roads fall within the reservation boundary while non-land-based tribes can submit general road data that better serves their population.
The Tribal Transportation Program (TTP) distributes money to tribes based on a BIA funding formula that uses miles of roadways and population. Having an updated road inventory ensures that each tribe is receiving its proper share of TTP funding and is a requirement for spending TTP funds on road improvements.
Session Dates:
This program is offered with sponsorship from FHWA, North Dakota DOT, Western Dakota Energy Association, North Dakota Insurance Reserve Fund, North Dakota Township Officers Association, the Northland Chapter of the American Traffic Safety Services Association, and the North Dakota chapter of the American Public Works Association.
