Flagger Certification

The Western Tribal Technical Assistance Program (WTTAP) is hosting ATSSA Flagger Certification Training at the Hoopa Trading Post in Hoopa, CA.

This workshop will cover why proper flagger operations are important, the skillset of a good flagger, standard flagger control references, and best practices for various situations. This interactive workshop is a combination of lecture, video, and group activities.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe why practicing safe, standards-based flagging operations is important
  • List the component parts and associate elements of standard flagging setups
  • Recognize key elements of proper flagging signals and procedures
  • Recall factors used for determining proper flagger station positioning
  • Describe basic flagging techniques using one or more flaggers under various scenarios
  • List effective communication techniques between flaggers, motorists, & other workers
  • Describe nighttime considerations, setup & removal, and use of flagging technology

Instructor:

  • Carrie Brown, MSML, Director, Nevada LTAP & Western TTAP

ATSSA Certification is good for 3-years in CA.
Participants MUST be 18 years of age to participate.

A copy of your valid driver’s license or state ID is required upon enrollment.

WTTAP provides vital training, resources, and technical assistance to tribal agencies, empowering them to build and maintain safer, more effective roads and transportation systems.

Carrie Brown, MSML

Carrie Brown has served communities as a Director of Human Services, Tribal Health & Human Services Director, Safety Circuit Rider, and currently as Director of the Nevada LTAP and Western TTAP.

Carrie holds a BA in Psychology and Anthropology and an MS in Management & Leadership.
