Safe System Assessments & Countermeasures

The Transportation Research Board (TRB) is hosting a 90-minute webinar to present tools and methods for conducting diagnostic assessments and selecting countermeasures within the Safe System framework. The session will emphasize the importance of understanding human factors, behavioral influences, roadway conditions, and user interactions when choosing treatments to address crash types and road user needs.

Presenters will discuss how to differentiate between human factors and driver behavior issues, assess contributing factors to crashes, and identify countermeasures that align with underlying causes.

Accurately diagnosing the causes of crashes allows transportation professionals to select the most effective countermeasures.
