Key highlights on regulations, policies, and program funding for the transportation professional
The 2025 Public Transportation Fact Book, published annually by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), contains national aggregate statistical data covering all aspects of the transit industry in the United States and Canada.
Major sections include an overview of U.S. transit facts, transit finances and operating statistics by modes of travel, transit vehicle characteristics and deliveries, facts and numbers relating to federal grants and the Federal Transit Act.
Significant Findings:
The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) is a nonprofit organization of over 1,600 public and private sector members.
It is the only association in North America that represents all modes of public transportation, including bus, paratransit, light rail, commuter rail, subways, waterborne services, and intercity and high-speed passenger rail.
"There can be no doubt that the transportation sector is the most critical sector of our economy."
— Robert Brady
