Key highlights on regulations, policies, and program funding for the transportation professional
ONLINE EVENT: October 28, 2025, 10:00AM - 12:00PM PT
The American Public Works Association (APWA) is hosting a virtual town hall to mark National First Responders Day on October 28, 2025.
Join APWA President Vic Bianes, CEO Scott Grayson, CAE, and members of the APWA staff to participate in a virtual town hall titled Public Works—The Silent Arm of Public Safety: “Always Ready!”
While police, fire, and EMS are the three most recognized first responders, public works is often silently there providing vital support to emergency response partners, helping protect essential services, and restoring those services following an emergency situation.
Connect with peers to explore the critical role public works plays in emergency management and response. Learn about current efforts underway among APWA chapters to have states and localities formally recognize public works professionals as first responders.
Your input, stories, and ideas are invaluable to APWA’s efforts at the state and national levels to increase awareness and formal recognition of the role of public works as first responders.
To register, email APWA's Government Affairs Specialist Jeff Finegan by Friday 10/24.
A link to join the virtual event will be emailed to you on Monday 10/27.
