Key highlights on regulations, policies, and program funding for the transportation professional
This year at the APWA Public Works Expo (PWX) in Chicago, CALTAP Director Dr. Tom O'Brien will present as a guest speaker at their Workforce Development Hub on Sunday, August 17th, at 1:00pm.
The session, titled "Building a Trained Public Works Workforce That Requires Special Skills, Not College Degrees", will discuss how practical skills-based training can be an alternative to or complement traditional college degree pathways, and how prioritizing skills-based training and development can enhance creativity, increase innovation, and help bridge the skills gap in the public works sector.
APWA PWX 2025 runs August 17-20 at McCormick Place Lakeside Center in Chicago, IL.
PWX provides a first-class multi-modal learning experience designed for professionals at all levels and across the entire spectrum of public works and is an excellent choice for anyone involved in the Public Works industry, particualrly those superintendents, directors, managers, and engineers responsible for designing and maintaining municipal facilities.
