California Traffic Safety Grants

The California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) is now accepting applications for projects that seek to prevent serious injury and death resulting from motor vehicle crashes.

To be eligible, applications should relate to one of the OTS ten priority areas for grant funding (below) and be supported by local crash data that demonstrates a need for funding.

  • Alcohol Impaired Driving
  • Distracted Driving
  • Drug-Impaired Driving
  • Emergency Medical Services
  • Motorcycle Safety
  • Occupant Protection
  • Pedestrian & Bicycle Safety
  • Police Traffic Services
  • Public Relations, Advertising, & Marketing Program
  • Roadway Safety & Traffic Records

OTS grants are available for public entities and local governments. 501c (3) non-profit organizations will need a government or public entity as their host agency in order to apply. Applications must be submitted through the Grant Electronic
Management System (GEMS) by January 31, 2024
