Tribal Transportation Public Engagement Peer Exchange

Posted: 10/19/2026

WEBINAR: October 28, 2026, 11:00AM - 12:00PM PT

Join this peer exchange to hear from transportation and planning professionals who have performed successful tribal-led public engagement about how they did it and what advice they can give from their experience.

From grant requirements to planning efforts and simple information gathering, we have all done public engagement at one point or another. However, there are often barriers that make public engagement more difficult than expected.

This exchange is formatted as a moderated panel discussion with time for audience Q&A.

Participants will gain insight into:

  • Tribal public engagement development
  • How tribal culture can and should be interwoven with outreach
  • How to insure intersectionality between tribal departments in outreach
  • How partners and technical assistance providers should assist tribes in outreach efforts

Panelists include:

  • Arlando Teller, Dine College (Moderator)
  • Risa Thomas, Shoalwater Bay Indian Tribe
  • Mike Geboe, Chippewa Cree Tribe
  • Sarah Brooks, KLJ
  • Matt Madsen, Western Transportation Institute
