Pothole Patching & Repair

The 2.5-hour virtual Pothole Patching & Repair training compares partial and full-depth repair techniques along with the materials used to implement them.

Using proper patching and repair techniques can improve structural integrity and restore ride-ability for pavements experiencing local failures.

This training is intended for personnel who select or apply patching materials in potholes or localized structural failures, as well as personnel who may specify or inspect the work.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the purpose of pothole patching and repair
  • Describe pavement conditions that need partial-depth patching (PDP)
  • Describe pavement conditions that need full-depth patching (FDP)
  • Select appropriate projects for PDP and FDP
  • Identify best practices for quality repairs  when monitoring an FDP

NOTE: All are encouraged to apply, however this opportunity preferences federally recognized tribes and their employees within the western U.S. You may be waitlisted pending final roster selection.

The Instructor

Greg Duncan is a Sr Engineer at Applied Pavement Technology with over 30 years of pavement, construction, and roadway maintenance engineering experience.

Greg is a certified NHI instructor teaching “Maintenance Leadership Academy” and “Constructing & Inspecting Asphalt Paving Projects” courses.
